Opening Party Video

in

Last nights party was a huge success. About fifty people showed up. They included friends, associates, interested people, local business owners, Carrboro Economic Development Director James Harris, Alderman Lydia Lavelle, Alderman Randee Haven-O'Donnell, Alderman Dan Coleman, Carrboro Mayor Mark Chilton, County Commissioner Mike Nelson, Chapel Hill Council Member Sally Greene, Coworkers, and many others. It was a whirl wind culmination of a dream.

Here is a short video of my small thank you speech and some words from Alderman Coleman. The first part, that isn't included in this vid, is a thank you to my customers (coworkers) who are really making this biz happen. PLUS I totally forgot to publicly thank my wife Ruby. Without her patience and help this whole venture NEVER would have gotten started.

Thanks to smalljones and tucomatus for the video. More to come I hear.

Radiant Code Sprint a Success

in

One of the first events scheduled for the space, before we where open even, was the Radiant CMS Code Sprint. When Sean Cribbs approached me about it I was psyched! I knew about this Ruby on Rails Content Management System and thought it great luck to have them here. One of the main reasons I created CCC was to have a place for creative communities to work in. Open Source software projects are a great example.

Folks arrived here at 8am and left late in the evening. People came from New York City, the District of Columbia, Raleigh, Cary, and other parts of the Triangle just to hack code. Sean had even raised money to pay for breakfast and lunch. (Which was nice BTW!) He ordered great sandwiches from Neal's Deli here in Carrboro. Here is the recap from the Radiant blog with details about what was accomplished.

Big thanks to Sean! He organized this event like a pro and has been a great asset to CCC. Wonderful getting to know him as he works here.
